Jones Bridge Lighting and Inauguration held Manila

Manila City Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso and Vice Mayor Dr. Honey Lacuna-Pangan led the inauguration of the newly improved William A. Jones Memorial Bridge on Sunday, November 24.

Domagoso and Lacuna were joined by Dr. Vicki Belo, lead designer Mr. Jerry Acuzar, and Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (PCCCI Inc.) president Lugene Ang.

The Mayor thanked everyone’s efforts and support for the rehabilitation and restoration activities of the historic bridge.

"One of the challenges of Manila is that it is divided by creeks and rivers and the Jones Bridge symbolizes Manila’s commerce and history," the Mayor said. "Ang tulay na ito ay nagdurugtong sa dalawang naunang komuninad sa Maynila – ang Binondo at Intramuros."

The night ended with a grand fireworks display on the capital’s skyline as the lights on the bridge were officially lit.

The inauguration also marked the return of the La Madre Filipina statues from Rizal Park back to its original home, Jones Bridge.
