In a series of photographs shared by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso on Twitter, couple Meyrick and Bernardine can be seen posing for their prenuptial photos on the historic Jones Bridge, which now sports an enhanced look with the installation of new ornate lamp posts that give a romantic vibe on the place.

“Maraming salamat po sa couple, Meyrick at Bernardine, pati na rin po sa Peach Frost Studio sa appreciation ninyo po sa ating efforts para pagandahin ang ating makasaysayang Jones Bridge! Ang ganda po ng prenup!” Moreno said online as he shared the photos last November 3.

[Thank you Meyrick and Bernardine and Peach Frost Studio for appreciating our efforts to beautify the historic Jones Bridge! Your prenup is amazing!]
The new look of the historic bridge was praised by many netizens that some of them even described it like the Pont d’Arcole in Paris, France.

According to a report, the street lights were designed and built by Jerry Acuzar; the architect behind Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bataan.

The bridge’s rehabilitation, Domagoso said, is part of the city government’s efforts to preserve the historical sites in Manila. A total of P20 million was given by Chinese businessmen to enhance and preserve the bridge near a heritage site in Pasig River.

Netizens also expressed that restoring Jones Bridge is long overdue as some said the old glory of Manila is slowly coming back.
