Vico Sotto explains why he meddled into Regent labor dispute

Regent Foods Corporation threatened to leave Pasig City amid soured relations with Mayor Vico Sotto, but the politiko said he was only doing what’s best for workers.

The millennial mayor earned praise on social media when he delivered his promise to free al of the 23 arrested from the picket protest of Regent workers over the weekend. Now, the snack food maker decried how Sotto had unfairly judged the situation, saying he branded Regent management as anti-labor when they were just asserting their corporate rights.

The striking Regent workers protested unfair labor practices and perpetual contractual arrangements despite years in the company.
