Triple pay for employees working on April 9

The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) said on Thursday that the workers who will report for work on April 9 are entitled to 300 percent of their daily salary rate.

NWPC said that the two regular holidays, namely Maundy Thursday and Araw ng Kagitingan, will fall on April 9, 2020.

“If you didn’t work, you are entitled to 200 percent of your daily wage rate. If you report to work, you are entitled to 300 percent of your daily wage rate,” NWPC said in a Facebook post.

Araw ng Kagitingan, also known as the Day of Valor, marks the annual commemoration of the Fall of Bataan, which honors the Filipino and American soldiers who fought during World War II.

Meanwhile, Maundy Thursday, which is the fifth day of the Holy Week, is observed in the Christian Church as the commemoration of the “Washing of the Feet” and “The Last Supper” of Christ with the apostles.
