Isko Moreno to donate P5M to quake-stricken Cotabato

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno on Friday said he will be donating P5 million worth of modeling fees to the provincial government of Cotabato, following the series of strong earthquakes which hit the province.

Sixteen people have died in Mindanao following the magnitude 6.6 and 6.5 earthquakes, which struck parts of Mindanao on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively.

Another 5.5 magnitude earthquake, hit the province on Friday morning.

In his live video, Moreno said he would be donating the money not as a mayor, but as a Filipino citizen.

"Bilang Pilipino ha, hindi bilang Mayor ng Maynila. Bilang Pilipino. Dahil tayo-tayo, bansa natin ito eh. Hiwalay hiwalay tayo ng pananaw sa Diyos, hiwalay hiwalay tayo ng pananaw sa gobyerno, pananaw sa buhay, pero iisa lang ang lahi natin," Moreno said.

"Pilipinas ang bayan natin," he added.

According to Moreno, P3 million of the money came from modeling for a product by the Pascual Laboratories and Belo Medical.

"Sabi ko sa Pascual Laboratories, i-address ninyo yung tatlong million na ibabayad niyo sakin doon sa province of Cotabato," Moreno said

Meanwhile, the other P2 million was another modeling fee paid by Vicky Belo. The cheque, as shown by Moreno on the video, was addressed to Cotabato.
