“Pasig City will be donating relief goods plus P14 million for the victims of the Mindanao quake,” Sotto said in a Facebook post on Monday night.

According to Sotto, the donation will be made on Tuesday following the formal approval of the city council.

“Upon the recommendation of the City DRRMO [Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office] Council, I have called for an emergency Sanggunian session tomorrow morning for [the] formal approval of the donation,” the mayor said.

Sotto, the new mayor of one of the richest city in the country, said that the Pasig City government “will be going directly to the city and municipal level.”

The city government, he said, will be donating P5 million to local government units in Davao del Sur namely; Magsaysay town (P2 million); Bansalan town (P2 million); and Matanao town (P1 million).

The largest chunk of the donation will go to some local government units in Cotabato province which were some of the most affected areas of strong quakes that rocked Mindanao these past few weeks.

The Pasig City government will be donating P3 million to local government units of Makilala town and P2 million each to towns of Tulunan, M’Lang, and the City of Kidapawan.

“We also encourage everyone to continue looking for ways to help our brothers and sisters who are in dire need,” Sotto said.
